Nercwys Community Council consists of nine elected members and meets on the last Wednesday of each month (excluding August and December). The County Councillor for the ward attends on a regular basis to advise and assist on any relevant issues, creating a strong link between community and county council. The meetings are held in the Soar Chapel schoolroom, starting at 7pm with a 10-minute opportunity for members of the public to come along and draw matters to the attention of councillors.
Nercwys Community Council receives a precept of £19,000 (2022/23) which is used sensibly to pay for streetlamps and their maintenance, electricity supply, churchyard upkeep, improvements and enhancements to the playground and village green, a brand new website and the Clerk’s salary (6 hours per week). Applications for modest annual grants are carefully considered at the budget setting meeting in January.
The Council is consulted on any planning application within the village boundaries and has 21 days to consider and send its decision to Flintshire County Council. If any resident wishes to discuss an application, they should access the Flintshire County Council Planning Portal, or contact any councillor on the numbers printed on the website. When future applications are received, details will be posted on this website under Planning, for the information of any interested party.
